Brown your ground meat in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Remove from pan and set aside.

In the same frying pan you cooked the meat, add the diced onion and bell pepper and sauté for 3-4 min. Add black pepper, ground mustard and minced garlic, and sauté an additional 3-4 min.

Return cooked ground meat to the pan along with tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Stir together, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 min.

Serve on homemade buns or, if you don't have the bandwidth, I will sometimes scoop it up with unsalted tortilla chips or have it over white rice.

Potassium Disclaimer: Heinz No Salt Added Ketchup uses potassium chloride for flavor. 1/4 cup adds approx 750 mg potassium to this recipe, or approx 125 mg potassium per serving. If this does not fit with your health goals you can either leave it out entirely or substitute with 2 tbsp no salt added tomato paste plus an additional tbsp brown sugar.
